Jan Nockolds is a painter and illustrator who has lived and worked in Hackney for over twenty years. During much of that time work took precedence over painting. Since the summer of 2013 she has been able to return to painting and has had two exhibitions: one at Lauderdale House and the other at The Gallery, Stoke Newington. 

Some of her work will be exhibited at Beaucatcher on Stoke Newington Church Street from February 17th.

Her present work originated from an interest in windows and the combination of objects, shapes and colours seen through the window added to those reflected in the glass from the world outside.

The shop and café windows on Stoke Newington Church Street were so interesting, colourful and attractive that they became the central theme of the project.
